THE IDEA OF A TEA ROOM - A farm girl, a teacher to entrepreneur – how did that happen?
A small family farm in Manitoba was the beginning, with a quick stop in Winnipeg to get a teaching degree and then out on my own. A young man then convinces me to follow him out west to Alberta. He has joined the RCMP and that is where he is to be stationed. We have many adventures, but those are stories to be told later.
We stayed in Alberta but not in the same place. Many moves, two sons and three grandchildren later, we now have decided that we like this place, Morinville. Teaching had come to an end; I had time to slow down, read a book, sip tea, and golf, but that was not enough after the hectic life style I had just left. My teaching assistant, Julie Puchala, had also decided that a new direction in her life was needed.
It was crystal clear that we needed to open up a shop – one that would fill a gap in Morinville. Tea, shopping for antiques and giftware, and courses in floral design were our new passion. We applied our knowledge to opening up the most divine store in Morinville and area. Thanks go to our dedicated family in assisting with the development of our dream becoming a reality.
Our logo is Flowers, Food and Friends and that is what I get to look forward to each day.
Julie Puchala
Owner & Master Florist
Julie Puchala, co-owner and master florist of Vintage Petals Tea House has had a love affair with flowers since an early age. It all started making daisy chain necklaces and hair halo’s with her sister Beverley in their favorite place to play, the Valley Gardens, in Pontefract, England.
Flowers remind us of special times or special loved ones in our lives. Julie has many special loved ones in her family. Julie is the loving wife of Brian, and a mother of six; Jennifer, Gillian, Jaclyn, Geoffrey, Jody and Jordan and would like to thank them for all their love and support.
After 20 years in the educational system as an Educational Assistant and meeting Noreen, Julie decided it was time for another special time in her life with an old love; flowers and a new friendship and business partner, Noreen Radford.
